Wireless Printing FAQ

What are the system requirements?

We support printing from most laptops and smartphones, when connected to eduroam wireless network. For ChromeBooks or other devices you can log into Wireless Printing and upload your PDF to our Web Print service.

What kinds of printers are available?

The wireless printing system prints to high-quality, black and white laser printers. Color printing is not available at this time.

Where can I use wireless printing?

You can print from anywhere on campus as long as you are connected to the UC Davis eduroam wireless network. Please note you should disconnect from any VPN before trying to use the wireless printing system.

How long do I have to release my print job?

When you print your document to the "B&W UC Davis Remote Print", it will not be printed until you release it online. All unreleased print jobs are deleted after 10 hours.

How much am I charged for wireless printing?

Sheets printed via Wireless Printing are counted on the same quota as normal printing within the IET computer rooms. The printing rates can be found at https://computerrooms.ucdavis.edu/printing/. You are charged for a print job once it is released and prints. You are not charged if it is canceled or never released to the printer.

I printed from my Mac but nothing showed up to be released. What can I do?

This is most likely an authentication problem. Check the Print Centre in the Dock to see if there are errors.
Shows Print Centre in Dock
When you open Print Centre you may see your print jobs with the status Hold for Authentication. Click on the replay button and enter your UC Davis LoginID and passphrase (The same as for Canvas). It will default with the local username for your Mac, but don't use that.
